Paid Inclusion Programs
Paid inclusion is a search engine marketing tactic whereby users pay search engines a fee to be included in their search index. Most search engine companies offer paid inclusion. Unfortunately for new websites, Google does not offer paid inclusion. Why do search engines charge a fee for inclusion? Paid inclusion provides a check against bogus or spam submissions (and, of course, they also bring in valuable revenue). Most paid inclusion fees are for one year inclusion for one page, which will be indexed regularly. Some search engines charge a per-click fee as well for paid inclusion. Each search engine is different. Some search engines allow only paid inclusion (which usually causes them to fail). Yahoo! and most other search engines use a combination of paid inclusion (pay per page and pay per click) and results from search engine spiders. Other sites, such as Google and Ask.com, do not use paid inclusion, but instead use sponsored listings which are separated from the main "organic" listings. In addition to getting your site listed qulicky, paid inclusion has other advantages. Unlike pay-per-click ads, which are usually labeled as "sponsored" or "advertiser" listings, paid inclusion requires no such label. Paid inclusion also allows site owners to dictate when their pages are crawled or indexed (search engines normally do not allow you to designate an indexing time, so without paid inclusion you're at their mercy). For sites that are dynamic and frequently modified, paid inclusion is a great way to insure that your pages appear in search engines in their most recent form. Paid inclusion is a technique of search engine marketing. At SEO Dogs we like to use it as a way to test search engine optimization, as we can see the results within a short few days rather than waiting indefinitely for the site to be re-indexed.
